I am a former elementary school teacher. In 2000, I was teaching full time, was also a choir director, and started my master's degree in education. On top of that, I was going through a difficult breakup. Needless to say, I was experiencing stress. I was seeing a chiropractor at that time to help ease my back problems due to my scoliosis, and he suggested Yoga. Yoga not only helped improve my back issues and lessen stress, but also helped me to grieve, and become aware of how depleted I was physically and emotionally. Yoga became an integral part of my health and well-being.
In 2007, I felt a calling to pursue teaching yoga. It was a risk to leave my safe and secure job; nonetheless, I took a leap of faith to pursue my passion. I took the necessary steps and completed the teacher trainings. In 2009, I married, moved to a new town and pursued teaching Yoga full time. I feel grateful to share this ancient and healing practice of Yoga that has helped me so much with my students and clients.
Over the years, I continued my education to better serve my students. I love to learn and improve my craft. I am currently back in school at LMU, Loyola Marymount University, to become a Certified Yoga Therapist through IAYT. During the pandemic, I started to work with my Yoga Therapist and Personal Mentor. Through her kind and loving guidance, I have deepened my yoga practice and learned more about myself, my tendencies and patterns. My practice continues to help me become a better spouse, mother, friend, and teacher.
When I am not practicing or teaching, you can find me hanging out with my hubby and my son. I also love to sing, play guitar, and be outdoors.
"The success of Yoga must not be measured by how flexible your body becomes, but rather by how much it opens your heart." T.K.V Desikachar
